I agree with you 100%. A good musical score can definitely add to the emotional aspect of a film and it works perfectly with this movie.(some of the music sounded like older eno or similar to some of Moby's ambient stuff ala the Heat soundtrack) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

traffic was pretty good. i really enjoyed the soundtrack behind it, though. the hair on the back of my neck stood on end when that upside-down helicopter landing scene played alongside the droning guitar... i caught a snippet of a track from what i think was brian eno's 'apollo' at the end, but i couldn't recognize any of the rest. does anyone know who was responsible for the music, or if there's a soundtrack available? thanks, a. -- Alex Reynolds SAS Computing LSP / Biology University of Pennsylvania Philadelphia, PA 19104-6228 V +1 215 573.2818 / F +1 215 898.8780 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Cliff Martinez wrote the score, and it was performed by him and a small group of musicians, including keyboardist Herbie Hancock and guitarist David Torn (whom I've lost track of, but who is billed in the credits as "SPLaTTeRCeLL d. torn" -- sort of like Larry Fast/SYNERGY). Martinez has written the scores to most of Traffic director Steven Soderbergh's movies, with the exceptions of Erin Brockovich (Thomas Newman) and Out of Sight (David Holmes). If you like the ambient quality of the Traffic score, you should definitely check out Martinez's score for sex, lies and videotape. The Eno bit is credited "Ascent (An Ending)," courtesy of Astralwerks Records. It's the last track on the album. Marc At 08:39 AM 1/9/01 -0500, Alex Reynolds wrote:

the soundtrack is definitely tops, as is the movie. i had never heard of cliff martinez before, but i mean to find out more about him. recently as well, he did the soundtrack to "the limey," which i've just rented today and am looking forward to watching (yay!). i loved the soundtrack to out of sight (also directed by steve soderbergh), which was produced by david holmes (the soundtrack that is). (anyone heard david holmes's new album?-it's damn skippy.) -will _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
