best live show I have ever seen was Funkadelic when they played at the annual free concert at my college in '95. The whole community came out to see the show and there were probably like 10k people there. And let me tell you, those cats can jam....all the songs were great, but i was totally into it when George Clinton went off stage for a 30 minute break and it was just instrumental. -Gil show I most regret missing: skinny puppin on the too dark park tour ( i think i twas TDP - in 90' or 91' ?) that's okay, i saw the last rites tour. speaking of which - I heard the new Tear Garden album is pretty good. any one want to offer a review? (are they going to tour???) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

sadly i've only been to one idm-type show. trans am w/colongib opening. great show. colongib did some neat stuff with a wedge and a boom box, and trans am were totally rockin'. their drummer kicks ass. but best shows overall? well, i just saw less than jake last month, and they were completely awesome. one of those things where the music was so good and so honest that i just about cried. same with the first time i saw the pietasters a couple years ago. going to see no use for a name next tuesday, and i'm hoping that they'll be as good. punk shows are great. alan --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

best set i've seen? okay, they're nowhere near IDM, but it would have to be They Might Be Giants at the Rave in Milwaukee, WI. (1997? 98?) by the end of the first song, people were moshing, crowd-surfing, head-banging (just somehting you don't do at a TMBG show). i never get into this kind of "dancing", so i was quite pleased when John F. asked the audience to pretend this was before the 90s, before moshing, before the 80s, before slam dancing, back when it was all about good music. so the group started up a conga line and TMBG got down to business. great show. death to Top 40 mentality. semblance Die Religion... ist das opium des volkes. -- Karl Marx _______________________________________________ Why pay for something you could get for free? Saw the Blue Meanies play in someone's backyard. A definite highlight of last week. Rusty --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
