greetings awhile back i heard one of the best mu-ziq tracks ever (imo) on mp3. i'm wondering if anyone can give me info about the album, it could be from a comp. anyway it was called something along the lines of: "Chinese Whispers (unbutton my coat mix)" or some variation thereof. i don't belive it is "Chinese Bakery" from Mu-ziq vs. The Auteurs which seems to be the closest resemblence on any discography i've found. any help would be greatly appreciated. Stereolab released an album where the concept was sort of 'chinese whispers' where each featured artist produced a remix after hearing only the previous artist's remix, with the original track coming from stereolab. There's also a wagon christ remix. At 00:54 24/10/00 -0400, you wrote:

Right - Chinese Whispers came out on Si-Cut {db}'s (sorry, I forget the correct fonts and symbols for the way Douglas Benford writes his alias) Sprawl Imprint, imo. a less successful version of the Dot label's excellent "Endlessnessism". Some big names contributed, but somehow the whole thing never really lifted off (for me, at least). It was released in '98, if you want to hunt it down. It's not really that great to hunt down, the stereolab mix is probably the best. I got it at a strip mall that sells discount/overun cds, for $5...along with 777's Golden whatever album... Its from the compilation Chinese Whispers. This CD involved Stereolab providing and initial miscellaneous sample, which was then remixed by Sons of Silence. The Sons of Silence track was then passed on to Ultramarine to be remixed...etc etc. The full list of remixers was: Sons of Silence> Ultramarine> Mike Paradinas> Freeform> Slang> Bedouin Ascent> Si Begg> Subtropic> T-Power> Stereolab. The album is on Sprawl Matt

I don't have the CD in my hands at the moment, but might it be a track from the remix chain CD of the same name which came out a few years back (officially by Stereolab)? I'm pretty sure Paradinas had a track on it ('Unbutton My Coat' mix?) jeff Santo Octagon wrote:
