just finished watching radiohead on saturday night live. i'm glad the group decided to end things with their most 'tweaky' song off the album. (in my opinion at least...) regardless of their influences, and where credit is due (that's not meant to be a negative statement), i'm glad america (the viewing public) finally got a taste of what's probably going to become regarded as 'pop music.' (even if it's not pop music) i think they pulled the live show off nicely. cool modular as well. nice mixing of pre - programmed and live drums. anyway, this has been discussed already. i'm just happy that america (at least it seems) is becoming more responsive to this type of style. (at least the style projected by that particular song...) my question is, what's next? what comes after the tweaky beats? i suppose i could read the IDM making list. but it seems like everyone's interested in 'what the fuck' beats. and i really don't think half the people throwing around the term DSP actually know what DSP is. the mego crew are continuously doing neat stuff. (i'm guessing the trio that was mentioned in a previous post about the mego 'fest' was farmers manual. the visuals were most likely created using nato modular software...) i think the future is SuperCollider. at least that's the direction i'm taking. (and i'm pretty damn sure i'm the future...) unless NI hires me. then the future is SuperCollider and reaktor. there's also nn / integer / antiorp... (nato modular) and miller puckette (PD) have a goodnight. cheers, christian --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
