We need more such albums. _Muddlin Gear_ has triggered some of the nastiest negative reviews in the dance-music press that I've ever read. Therefore I highly recommend it-- especially with hallucinogens. Speaking of Jamie Lidell, I always heard he was one of the guys behind Subhead. If this is indeed true, keep an eye out for the Subhead LP on Tresor. It's a pretty interesting Lp. Between the Subhead [Tresor], Jamie Lidell [Warp], and Cristan Vogel [Novamute], there a lot of techno-ish insanity coming out! On a different tip, isn't there a new SURGEON out this week? Any reviews? Tony Childs is the bomb!! --- indecision_of_a_child <tofu@falco.kuci.uci.edu>

No, not necessarily. But if some cheesy-house-lovin'/ trance-approving hacks don't like a record, it's probably worth checking out. _Muddlin Gear_ is a truly baffling album, alternately infuriating and fascinating. You can't say that about many albums now, most of which you can determine where they're coming from by the first few minutes of track 1. lidell *was* one third of subhead, but he's no longer involved and they're now a duo (so the tresor lp is just the two without lidell). it's a good album, though. tony child (no "s") is correct William Samuels wrote:

The Jamie Lidell 'Planet Rick' track off of the Penalty 1998-2000 cd is pretty bad ass. Does anyone know of any other electro-ish Jamie Lidell tunes? Does anyone have mp3s of those old Subhead 12"s? Some of those 12"s were awesome and are very hard to find now. Some label should compile them into a cd?
