Um, I mentioned it. I think one other person might have also. I wouldn't compare it to Autechre but I will say that it is wonderful. Its actually produced in large part by Mark Bell (he's done a bunch of remixes for her too). I'll go so far as to call it idm, though others who don't find bjork so charming will almost certainly disagree. Its rather short (about 30 minutes) and some of the songs are mediocre. Still, others really do shine, so if your a fan at all, or just like good music (most of you do), its certainly worth checking out. cheers sam

You don't want to. Apparently, despite its having won all kinds of awards at Cannes, it is one of the worst films made in the past 10 years. Bjork's acting, supposedly, is fantastic but the rest of the movie just sucks all over. It's a *musical* about a factory worker who's going blind in Italy during the war or something like that. actually, mark bell has been producing bjork albums since Post, which is why everything pre-post sounds weird, and everything from post after sounds electronicy. he did the majority of post, he did all the songs on homogenic, barring all is full of love (which was produced by howie b.). cheers, /derek --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

LISTEN TO ME! That review on Salon is the biggest peice of shit ever written. Although I have yet to see the film, her dismisal of Lars Von Trier's previous work pretty much indicates the direction she's coming from. Now in MY opinion, Lars Von Trier is possibly the most exciting and refreshing filmaker working today. Have a look at Breaking The Waves, The Kingdom... that is ENTERTAINMENT! Not to mention the Dogme95 movement which has spawned The Celebration, The Idiots, Mifune, etc etc If she hates those films AND Dancer in the Dark then I am betting it's a good film! gnz.

Hmmm, somehow I had gotten it into my head that howie b produced most of "homogenics". I guess not. Still, I did check the linear notes for "Post" and Mark Bell's name didn't show up anywhere. Graham Massey, Howie b, Tricky, and a few others produced "post" but not Mark Bell. Oh and Mark Bell did a wonderful remix of "all is full of love" cheers sam

I read an article in keyboard a while back that was rather interesting, it told how mark bell made homogenic, i always like it when artists divulge a lot of the how. i can't remember the specifics, but i remember that he realied pretty heavily on a 909 and a sherman filter bank... Maybe someone can point you to the article, its very nice.

Isn't she even supposed to be working with matmos on her new album? (or was that just hearsay?) interesting. i know i read a while ago someone talking about seeing a picture of bjork with a little hand-held sampler type thing, sampling like some water structure or something. if i recall, the unit was notable because it had a pretty wide range of functions for a small sampler (like loop position, including negative loops, etc). so it sounds like she has good ideas; maybe it's just taken her this long until she's learned some of the tools herself. of course that means we could just end up with ReBirth Bjork songs, too.. hmm.. cheers, /derek --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

hehe...It's possible but I have a feeling it will enjoyable sto listen to. Its obvious bjork has good tastes in music. And I have seen specials on bjork and she really gets invovled with every aspect ov thee production. Its not like she just sats back and watched on her other albums. But we shall see. I hope its soon though. I am very curious.
