Hey, I've been wondering what everyone thinks would be the best 'POP' track to do an IDM remix of? (boundaries are pretty loose here) So far we've got: Kid 606 - straight outta compton A whole whack of NWA songs Autechre - Boogie down bronx Autechre - Chariots of fire (coachella set) Aphex Twin - Pacman, not to mention beck, and others Lexaunculpt - Metroid Senor Coconut - Kraftwerk (well, ok they're not remixes, but they're covers... close enough) Bit Meddler - Genie in a bottle (www.konstruktiv.net/bit_meddler) And I'm sure WAY more that I'm missing... I think we should just throw out as many funny songs as possible to tear apart, as I am slowly but surely remixing Guns'n'roses, vanilla ice, Zapp and Roger, and more... I would love to hear more independent and illegal remixes showing up around the net. My suggestions for those itching to remix something would be: -Jingle Cats -A-Team theme -Anything by Prince -Tom Waits - Big in Japan -Kenny G -Ghostbusters theme... That's all I can come up with for now... feed the fire! -Matt- www.konstruktiv.net "There is absolutely no inevitability as long as there is a willingness to contemplate what is happening." -Marshall McLuhan --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I've attempted to do a few pop-type remixes over the last couple of years, but never got very far with them: Bobby Gentry - Ode to Billy Joe Beach Boys - Heroes & Villains Prince - Joint to Joint The one I'm thinking about at the moment, is using the instrumental parts from 'Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps' as performed by Doris Day. There's no way that I'm going to be able to separate the parts I want digitally, so I'm gonna have to get a few musical friends to play it themselves while I record them. Hopefully it will end up with a distinct Latin feel, similar to Amon Tobin, but slightly more badass. A couple of years back I reworked Prodigy's No Good (Start The Dance) in quite a satisfactory drum'n'bass manner. I'll post it somewhere if anyone wants to hear it. G-love. http://www.gram.org.uk
