I've attempted to do a few pop-type remixes over the last couple of years,
but never got very far with them:
Bobby Gentry - Ode to Billy Joe
Beach Boys - Heroes & Villains
Prince - Joint to Joint
The one I'm thinking about at the moment, is using the instrumental parts
from 'Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps' as performed by Doris Day. There's no way
that I'm going to be able to separate the parts I want digitally, so I'm
gonna have to get a few musical friends to play it themselves while I record
them. Hopefully it will end up with a distinct Latin feel, similar to Amon
Tobin, but slightly more badass.
A couple of years back I reworked Prodigy's No Good (Start The Dance) in
quite a satisfactory drum'n'bass manner. I'll post it somewhere if anyone
wants to hear it.
G-love.
