Yup, not only is Flying Lotus on the billboards (witness https://instagram.com/p/7nZORgPEIy/ ) in LA (i guess?), there's also a video for an Apple Music commercial. vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=53&v=N7DmOpOF7ew article: http://www.cultofmac.com/388800/apple-music-showcases-4-new-artists-to-discover -- --- http://twitter.com/esaruoho http://lackluster.bandcamp.com

The FlyLo billboard is in Hollywood right by Ameba Records. It's strange to see him get exposure like this but its also about time too. I'm still coming down after the Low End Theory Festival he headlined last month here in LA. Until recently I'd always compartmentalized the LA beat scene (which is dear to my native Angeleno heart) as wholly separate from IDM. Then I read something saying that the LA beat scene is basically IDM just based off hip-hop, R&B, and jazz instead of techno, ambient, and acid. Made perfect sense to me.

Haha. I actually really enjoy short beats that lead nowhere. When strung together you get a really fun show or they're perfect to get your backpacker friends to rap to. But to be fair to Mr. Lotus, his last two albums are not at all distinctive for short trippy beats like his first albums were. They're concept albums with primarily fully fleshed out songs.

and then there's that ultralush tune coronus the terminator from the new lp you're dead. which is just really quite my cup of tea. apparently he's going to be moving into that direction in the future. good for him! On 16 September 2015 at 22:20, Cameron Renshaw <cameron.renshaw@gmail.com> wrote:

i liked cosmogramma, and the reset ep, and to some degree the L.A. eps... but i was disappointed by You're Dead, i personally felt like he had a pile of tracks, he said, and then, he said kendrick lamar basically picked over what he had and took what he wanted, and in my opinion, the leftovers ended up being You're Dead which was under 40 minutes, and had two 'songs' on it. then a lot of the other tracks my reaction is "oh my god this is amazing, wow i really-- what? it ended?" i just felt like it could have been alot more than it was Clint Anderson Systems Engineer On Wed, Sep 16, 2015 at 2:39 PM, Esa Ruoho <esaruoho@gmail.com> wrote:
