David Abir/Ashley Wales "Movement A, Study 33/Landscape" (Sulphur) Two long ambient tracks by two diffent artists. On the third release in Sulphur's "Meld" series the artists don't collaborate, but arrives at something similar by themselves. David Abir goes all classical on us, with strings, flutes and choirs moving in circles around each others, sometimes loud, sometimes quiet. Pretty suggestive, but can't hold my interest for 23 minutes. The second track is better: Ashley Wales (from Spring Heel Jack) uses a few sounds from a piano and a synth on the 14 minute long "Landscape", and the floating result is rather reminicient of Brian Eno's classical ambient works. Impressive. hs review written for swedish Groove magazine, quick-translated into english. _____________________________________________ everything is fiction, all cynic to the bone. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
