phonem: hydro electric (morr music)
This is good. Electronic listening music is a style of music that's
constantly evolving: since the artists can't put the focus on lyrics
they often feel the need to channel all energy into making unique
music. Lately there has cropped up several artists that make music
similar to that which Aphex Twin and Autechre did a few years ago,
around the time of "Artificial Intelligence II." Phonem's full lenght
album "Hydro Electric" contains seven long tracks filled with
beautiful melodies (some would call them melancolic, I think they're
beatiful), computerprocessed sounds and lightly distorted beats. Sure
you can hear that Phonem's been listening a lot to the above
mentioned predecessors, but so what? It's good music, and good music
is never wrong.
