"Telstar" is one of the Ventures' (surf rock band) biggest hits. Joe Meek was a British producer of wall-of-sound style 60's surf rock or something, and I believe the original writer of "Telstar". He also shot his landlady and himself in a "going-out-in-a-blaze-of-glory" ending to his career. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Just a quick question. A while back (few years) I purchased the "15 Levels of Magnification" EP(i guess) by Neotropic from a popular music store. It was a sweetass CD and one of my favorites. Unfortunaltely it was stolen and I could never find it again. Could anyone tell me a site I can find it at (for order) or if it is available anywhere.. cheers, nate --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

picked up the new release from not breathing yesterday. it is called "itchy tingles" and is available through invisible records. really, the cd sounds like it belongs on the label (except it sounds nothing like the junk invisible has been putting out and is actually very good :). the "not breathing" sound at this point still reminds me of what i expect the autechre/coil collaboration might sound like (if it ever happens) -- except that if you have been following not breathing since the "visible" days, the music still has that distinct sound. my faves on the release are: "wasp fury" - which samples dogstar communications (at first i thought they just had the same singer -- but i guess it samples some early 7" from the band.. which is interesting if you can find it). this one is an odd little junglish tune. "ascii princess" - this song just has so many fun sounds flying around that i cannot resist it. pretty damn sick and fun. "telstar" - a wonderful song that reminds me of soul oddity if they were to write a patriotic song or some church choir song :) i recognize this. the credits say joe meek, but while the name seems familiar, im drawing a blank :) im sure its something pretty obvious that i should know though.. "silver dollar" - short and sweet noisey bit :) glad not breathing included some of this stuff on the cd. "lilac time" - a very dark and BEAUTIFUL ambient/soundscape piece that slowly evolves into noise (on the more suble side). this is not breating at its best IMO. "stand by your man" - just because :) in case anyone was curious, chris. "bodily fluids are a wonderful way to get to know someone." _we are all lost --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
