Since there's been a lot of talk about hip hop here, I just thought that I should give you some pointers to semi-mainstream hiphop that even electronica geeks might enjoy: Peanut Butterwolf Dr. Octagon De La Soul (not only "3 feet high.." but also more recent stuff) Gang Starr Company Flow Mos Def Yo check diz out. I really think r'n'b is the most avantgarde mainstream music these days, though.. /Johan --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

dude i totally agree .. the only stations i listen to on the radio in my car are the r-n-b stations ... the Thong Song by Sisqo has some amazing beats going in it. the production in most contemporary rnb is the best thing out there in comparison to the crap on "modern rock radio" .. also i have been digging Destiny's Child, Jay-Z, Eve, and Monifah. "Touch It" by Monifah (which is actually a remake of White Horse by Laid Back) has some of the hottest synth playing i've heard in a commercial tune since California Love by Tupac and Dr. Dre also check out "Crazy" by Britney Spears ... total IDM sound jacking: DSP out the wazoo, sounds like Aphex could have been behind the boards at times i'm totally gonna get flamed for this post... josh -- String Theory : Digital Music for Humans http://www.enteract.com/~yoshi/index.cgi --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Or even on Snoop Doggy Dogg's "Doggystyle" LP. Goddam virtuosic at times, brings a tear to my eye every time... =)
