I can't speak for Grant at Rephlex, but as a person who runs a label I can certainly understand why people release limited editions of records. When you press up a record the fact is your tying up a good deal of your money. Obviously this increases with the more records you press. Next you sell to your distributors on 30 or 60 day terms. Most distributors are well meaning, but ask any label how prompt most are with payments... Fact is, your lucky if you see any money back on a release for close to 90 days. If your a small label this can cripple your release schedule for 3 months if you do a large run on a release. I personally would rather put out more releases than just flog one for that long. How about not dissing labels for this until you've tryed to run your own. As for all the childish fighting shit going down, I've got better things to do than delete these messages. That's a good point! I am glad that you mentioned that. I never saw it from that angle before.

i found myself listening to Alec Empire - "limited editions 1990-94" and realised what a absolutely wonderful cd this is. it makes me forget entirely about the pounding migraine headache i still had from listening to more than 5 songs in a row off his Destroyer digital hardcore release a few months back. i assume he's put out more material resembling this limited editions material? if so, i would most dearly like to know what to look into. thanks - --- .brian --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

It is really good and has much softer and ambint feel than his later works. It was my first album by him and still is the most favorite one. Others I have: Generation Starwars" and "Hypermodern Jazz 2000.5" are different from this one definetely. Alien.

There were also a couple of other early albums under Alec's name in the early DHR days of 94 and 95, they're not particularly rare, not particularly good though. Sorry I can't be more specific. It does sound different from alot of things he's done, but there are moments on Generation Star Wars that are kinda in that direction Rob --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

"les etoiles des filles morts" Empire released some solo material before Atari Teenage Riot in "Force, Inc." from Frankfurt. He released some records also on "Mille Plateaux". Now he has created a new label, "Zeit" where he released a solo triple-album. None of his solo stuff is on DHR. F. ----------

I believe the label is called GEIST, he has released the triple album which is a collection of tracks from the Mille Plateaux releases and a few unreleased before tracks, it's quite good, and he has also released stuff from Like A Tim, Rope, and She Satellites, aka Nic Endo from ATR. Yes. you´re right. "GEist", not "Zeit". Perhaps I was thinking in the word "Zeitgeist" when I made that mistake. "Rope" is a groop that worths checking out. Friendly, Franco. ----------

I believe ol' Janek (Siegle) has a new alb. in the works, woz originally slated for a January release on Geist, has been pushed back a few months on account of Sir Alec's waffle-ish-ness re:the track listing. The few tracks I've heard are brilliant, almost nothing like the tracks from 'Rope Hotel' but still retaining that aqueous sub-haze that made it so palatable. He's done at least one killer remix over the last few months, be on the lookout for more activity from this guy in the near future... -Våt ____________________ Reckankreuzungsklankewerkzeuge PO BOX 382864.
