I dunno bout y'all, but it ain't really worth going anywhere if I cant wear my usual black socks pulled up to my knees with sandals, a terry cloth tube-top and Capri pants. If I go to a REALLY cool show or club or something, sure, Ill bring my biker chain wallet, but other than that I stay at home and make sure no light gets thru my aluminum foil covered windows. This reminds me of this thread on rec.music.industrial, "how to spot a rivithead" or some other bollocks (I think the old title was: "how can i recognize a cool industrial girl?"). Basically what clothing "style" comes down to is functionality and comfort. I'm always amazed when you see the artists/DJs at a show how much they look like, well, a bunch of dorks. (Have you ever seen pictures of Cylob or Mike Paradinas? I rest my case.) Then you see the people AT said show, and they more often than not have glowsticks, excessively baggy everythings, piercings with huge colorful lucite jewelery, and so on. IDM folk have no time or money for gussying themselves up, because they're actually trying to find records pressed in runs of <100. They wear Jeans/Kahkis, solid black/color tshirts, black boots or sneakers, 90% wear glasses. Basically the the same as all the other dorks you know. Everyone in VESTS! Actually, I like my dark greyish w/ a silver gleam tek-vest, but it's not from the gap. I'm currently boycotting the gap, not that i'd probably ever shop there, but even so, check out www.gapsucks.org to see their evil ways. Possibly even more evil than Christopher Walken on a bad day. Normally I wouldn't be so hippie-ish about it, because i'm not one to care about the environment too much, but that's just pretty not-cool of them. on a different note, does anyone here listen to the idm station on www.spinner.com? They like repeating the same albums a lot, but if you're somewhere where you do not have access to your music, it's a pretty nice treat. I usually put either the idm or ambient channel on and sleep to it. michelle --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
