I think being nice to people is really nice. As Mammy Yokum says "Good is better than Evil because it's nicer." The whole transaction between Fan and Artist is tilted toward niceness, even if it isn't heartfelt. The Fan pays the bills for the Artist -- no fans, and the Artist is back to being a schlub who loads bakery trucks and gets yelled at by his girlfriend for being a worthless twat. So the Artist has a powerful incentive to make everyone who strikes up a conversation feel, at least for 30 seconds, like the Artist is his or her Friend. Is this whole thread based just a little bit on Brushes with Fame one-up-manship? Well, when I was 14, Dizzy Gillespie dripped spit out of his horn on my shoe. Got ya all in check. And I met Mr. Greenjeans from Captain Kangaroo. He was a really nice guy! kent williams -- kent@avalon.net

Wait a sec, I thought Domu was some other character - I'll have to go find the press on that. It's been out for a few weeks now - well worth checking. There's a new release on Fruitbeard that's not far form the Main Squeeze sort of sound as well - don't remember the name right now, but it's ace.

domu (#5) is a very sweet record indeed. better than the dego 12" (#1) --which sounds a lot like tek9 demos actually-- but not quite as good as the tintonton one (#2). now if only the Mustang (#4) and Nubian Minds (#3) records were a little easier to find....

agreed. "reality/material world" by andres is excellent, but is it me or does it sound much better at -4/-5 or so? i wonder if this is intentional. does anyone know who this andres cat is anyway? his track "come join the party" could easily have been another "music sounds better with you" / "you don't know me" crossover success. sometimes it's kind of a shame that labels like kdj and sound signature have such small print runs and underground ethos. it would be kinda nice to hear a kdj record in a cheezy montreal strip club....
