Oooh, I'm just cruising off to Planet Groove here, listening to Ian O'Brien's "Gigantic Days" on repeat. This might well be a few galaxies removed from hard-core IDM, (is there such a thing?) but anybody who likes it smooth and melodic should check this out. Aaaaaah. I *

i just want to second this.. Ian O'Brien - Gigantic Days - 2x12" - Peacefrog - pf083 Since he's producing Ian O'Brien pretty fast build up an own sound, through his releases on Ferox and 4th Wave. Gigantic Days is his second full length after Desert Scores, and again he takes it jazzy, but as less others still with a very futuristic sound. And that's much to less said. He does it in a perfect way in between, making it easily one of the better albums this year. Somewhat reminding to Planetary Folklore by As One, but not that diverse. Using smooth jazzy rhythms together with fine smooth warm strings and other sounds. Unique, and highly recommended!

If anyone likes this than they should also check out Ian O'Brien's recent mix album which covers similar ground. Also a 3x vinyl version available. Contributions from Ian O'Brien (unreleased track and 2 re-mixes), New Sector Movement, Neon Phusion, Kirk Di Giorgio, Claude Young and others. ===== ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Desert Scores is a brilliant CD. I haven't given Gigantic Days near as many listens, but that doesn't mean it is lacking in any way. I think I prefer Desert Scores just because it is alot more upbeat. Everything I have bought by Ian O'Brien is top notch!!! When Claude Young was out in LA, he said that he and Ian were considering doing a label together. He said it would be more musical...kind of like classic Black Dog. That sounds awesome!! --- marsel <marsel@sonik.demon.nl> wrote:
