today i listened to a bit of the new cd at the local shop, and i was immediately struck by the first track. it's got exactly the same bassline as a track from Deep Space Network's "Traffic" live CD. which struck me as odd, because of the methodology that i understood Cinematic Orchestra used in making their tunes (making tracks, giving the finished track to a band to re-record, and then finally re-processed into what the final product is). wot's, uh, the deal? it's a pretty unique bassline, so i feel certain that they've both gotten the idea from the same place, if not DSN themselves (the CD was recorded at Interference Fesival "95, btw) the cinematic orchestra did sound very similar to cujo/amon tobin in a few ways. probably more "live" and less "sequenced" sounding. i would have gotten it, but i settled on the new Mu-ziq, which sounded pants at the shop, making me wonder if that will last for me. . . -jeff -------------- 1642 try 621 --------------
