his video for bjork's 'all is full of love' may be the best video i have ever seen. can't wait to see what he does with Neuromancer. Anyone know if Gibson himself is involved with the screenplay?

Both Gibson and Cunningham are working together on the screenplay. It's a shame A.I. was ripped from him... to Spielberg, of all people. :/ +odd -- Todd Sines icq: 11117580 SCALE:form | image | sound http://www.scalestudio.com

um, unless there have been some late-breaking developments, AFAIK no studio has bought the script and Cunningham has not committed to the project. and I don't believe Gibson factors into the process anywhere, which may be for the better. with the amount of time that has passed since the book was written, and with all the stealing from and aping of Neuromancer (the Matrix, etc.) that has transpired, I think a fresh approach and interpretation would be the best solution. just let Cunningham run with it. of course, I'm not financing the deal, but you sure as hell can bet whoever does is gonna have quite a bit to say about the adaptation. dae.vid.

From http://oak.cats.ohiou.edu/~kh401597/510.html +Neuromancer: At last report, Cunningham and William Gibson were still working on the script to this film, which he will also direct, based on the Gibson novel Neuromancer. From the article in RES, Cunningham says, "The problem with that book is that it's been picked clean over the last ten years ... but I still think there's a brilliant film in there. . . I certainly don't want it to be my first film. It would kill me." Gibson speaks of Cunningham: "The guy's a genius. He's the man for the job - Neuromancer was his 'Wind of the Williows'." "I hate all that virtual reality stuff. It's just so unbelievably boring. It's not gonna be a film about that, I just don't think that stuff is even relevant..." So will it be more character-based? "Totally, yeah - it's like a really bizarre, trippy thriller. To turn it into a film, the first thing you would have to do is bin all that VR bollocks. To me that would be like making a film about a phone or a car, which in ten years time will be as much in the background. "I'm working on two films right now, two scripts. One of them is my own script which I'll probably do first, a straight drama. When I was a kid I loved Kes as much as I loved Tron, and the script I'm working on is in that Kes area, it's the closest thing I can compare it to. And then after that, if I go on to make Neuromancer... to me that's part of the fun of it, watching the faces of people when you surprise them." (Flux, #14) Neuromancer is slated for a 2000 release date by Seven Arts Pictures. For more information, visit Coming Attractions. There is also an official Neuromancer movie web-site with information about Cunningham, Gibson, and others involved with the film. At 3:10 PM -0500 9/19/99, .daevid. wrote:
