Its that Basic Channel feel, in fact one of the tunes, Track three, is entitled Quadrant Dub II. Sounds like some layered vocals over that Quadrant theme. The other tune, track 5, entitled Dub is really hit'n(a term which denotes my liking for it) Still dubby, B.Channel feel, but more dance oriented and no vocals..... >> I would call Basic Channel techno, not dub. DUB is King Tubby, and pretty much any of the dozens of King Tubby retrospectives is as good or better than even the best techno. Dub, as Tubby made it, is some of the richest and most varied music out there. Wow! WOw! Wow! DUB is not a person, it's a process of creating music through the use of studio techniques. Perhaps I would be better understood if I typed, ^^%*$#$^&(please dont say anything Ernie and dont get anyone else too, thanks)..... Oral, I know that DUB is not a person, Dub Taylor is though. His tune on Raum Musik disc 2 is very nice! Back to the point, for everyone in fact, what I meant is the Dub Feel(i.e., like Basic Channel, and the tune sounds like Basic Channel, and it is but remixed) for the future-----B-Channel feel=dubby sound=not so bad. Qualified enough now? Hk!, The Librarian--my cousin keeps checking out CDs like I am! -----Original Message----- From: oral [mailto:eric@oral.qc.ca] Sent: Tuesday, May 02, 2000 1:15 PM To: AeOtaku@aol.com; khackett@aba.iupui.edu; idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] Dub-reductionism

Also, you can have a look at the "Blue Train" compilation CD called "No Lightweight Stuff" that is quite nice, it sounds a bit more like Rythm and sound with Tikiman than any other Basic Channel or ChainReaction.
