I have in front of me Round 1-5 Compilation, and several tunes on here are not bad. Its that Basic Channel feel, in fact one of the tunes, Track three, is entitled Quadrant Dub II. Sounds like some layered vocals over that Quadrant theme. Not bad, if fact sorta nice this late at night. The other tune, track 5, entitled Dub is really hit'n(a term which denotes my liking for it) Still dubby, B.Channel feel, but more dance oriented and no vocals..... Now lets see did I make any generalizations in here, are my words spelled correctly(ya cant count hit'n, that escapes the English boudaries-its my word), here we go This is good in spots! When I hear about dub I always rememeber great 2CD compilation on Incoming! - Serenity Dub. When I first heard it I new nothing about the rooster but loved it ffrom the very first listen. And how I was surprised to hear it a couple of years later to find my most beloved ones listed on this oldy: SETI, Mouse on Mars, Biosphere, Muslimgauze, etc. Dub ain't all bad. DUB is King Tubby, and pretty much any of the dozens of King Tubby retrospectives is as good or better than even the best techno. Dub, as Tubby made it, is some of the richest and most varied music out there.
