nope - I don't think there is one... I do live shows on the Web which are streamed out on RealAudio... well, it's all improv... so I found some excellent parts that could be defined as a distinct track - so played the Real Audio out into my mixer - then back into the computer into Sound Forge - from there I did a lot of work to pull out the frequencies that get killed from the compression - the final product came out pretty good! It took awhile... but it worked "Joanisse, Robert" wrote:

there a .ra -> .wav converted. www.2bsys.com. it takes a bit of time for really large files (20mins or so for hour long files) but it works fine. On Wed, 7 Jul 1999, gideon wrote:

It's been a while since I touched it, but I believe Cool Edit Pro may be of some help. I beliebe it was only one way though..like importing it, and being able to convert it, but not being able to export back to Real format. *shrug* Or maybe I'm wrong... -Scott. s c o t t g @ b l u e t a p e . c o m s y s t e m s a d m i n i s t r a t o r

you are. cool edit can export but not import. ra2wav doesn't work on live streams. eric

Ra2Wav (http://www.2bsys.com) and WaveConvert Pro (http://www.waves.com) can accept .ra files as input, but i don't think they can handle live streams. if you have a soundblaster live! card (either the full or value) the drivers allow you to actually record wave output, so you could use sound forge or whatever to do a live recording of the .ra stream into .wav, which is pretty swell. assuming that yr internet connection is fast enough to handle the data stream without annoying interruptions, rebufferings, etc. audiopig

-- rorshach@execpc.com http://www.execpc.com/~rorshach/index.html There are so many groups now that just play the same things over and over, and this is why i had to get rid of a lot of people in the group because they felt that was it, they've mastered their instrument and think, "oh well, I can play the same chord brilliantly for six minutes", which is ah - you should get a bleedin' machine to do that. You know, the thing is to play it with an inflection. -Mark E. Smith, 1985

Do what I did, and buy a cheapy £20 soundblaster to record you wave output! Yeah, it's a quick and dirty solution, but it worked. Recently though, I found a program on the net which acts as a vitual audio device, so you can do this in software. Better yet, you can run hundreds of copies at once (well, probably not that many), to connect up all yer virtual synths and whatever. I can't remember what it's called though (and I haven't had chance to try it out yet). Anyone else know? Eddie

it's called (creatively enough) Virtual Audio Cable. i've not used it, but supposedly pretty slick. more info at http://www.harmony-central.com/Software/Windows/virtual-audio-cable.html audiopig -- rorshach@execpc.com http://www.execpc.com/~rorshach/index.html There are so many groups now that just play the same things over and over, and this is why i had to get rid of a lot of people in the group because they felt that was it, they've mastered their instrument and think, "oh well, I can play the same chord brilliantly for six minutes", which is ah - you should get a bleedin' machine to do that.
