The Meals on Wheels of Steel Tour at Stadtgarten in Köln: This was April 10th (bit late- sorry) and a complete blast. Kid Koala stole the show with a live band and a stage presence full of enthusiasm and little anecdotes. He was much fun and mixed in a Phil Collins' "Land of Confusion", and towards the end this chick in the band went OFF on her bongos for a spell, really the climax of the evening. DJ Food followed with a set that kicked off pretty well, but moved into more drum and bass. Things seemed to quiet down a bit at that point- Kid Koala's performance was a bit tough to follow I think. Monolake at Ego in Düsseldorf: Nobody was too enthusiastic about going to this with me. Apparently last summer Monolake had some technical difficulties during there set and got a bad rap from that, and then played another set that was just a playback of their tracks. Not last night. It was just one of the guys with another working some pretty decent visuals. By the time I stopped hearing little elements of Fragile, the dance floor was full and the few friends who finally agreed to go with me were all over it. He ended with some nice in-your-face bassy beats that were so hard hitting he grabbed his controller and was slamming around this tiny dj area at the end of the bar. So were we- it was a brilliant close. I just want to get the word out that Monolake is NOT full of weak live performances! cheers susan --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
