Anyone who likes Ian O'Brien's 'When does the past end and the present begin' should like Modaji's new release 'Wired Angles' on Laws of Motion. Imagine Gato Barbieri jamming with Herbie Hancock around at Mad Mike Banks house and you should get the picture. Excellant bizness in a jazztech style. Some good stuff in this area coming out on Laws of Motion/Peace/Sirkus. (Ignore the cynics who say it's music by Acid Jazzers who've listened to too much Sun Ra). Did anyone notice the free mix CD on the front of Mixmag as mixed by Tom Middleton? Contains such great IDM faves as You don't know me by Armand Van Helden. Within 6 months I predict that he'll be playing for the fluffy bras at Cream. _____________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? Tom Middleton? Contains such great IDM faves as You don't know me by Armand Van Helden. Within 6 months I predict that he'll be playing for the fluffy bras at Cream.< Ahem... well it's one of my faves. Crackin' tune. Van Helden playing out at Bugged Out was one of my toppest nights out this year to be honest. Ironically enough, with his drum+bass and house sensibilities, Tom Middleton would be just the kind of DJ who'd go down gloriously at Bugged Out... which these days takes place in Liverpool. At Cream :-) Damon. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

I agree with you on this one, Damon. I would say that Tom must be one of the definitive IDM DJ's firstly because he plays Dance Music (DM) and secondly, because he's not afraid of straying into different genre's within his set (I). He's also not afraid of playing the odd cheesy favourite to get the crowd going.I think a lot of people on the list forget what the D stands for in IDM. Anyone else want to own up to liking cheesy dancechart hits? (Although that Armand Van Helden one wasn't very cheddary really ...a pretty good Disco cut up). --- Damon Fairclough <damon_fairclough@hotmail.com> wrote:
