hi, ok so this is a tad off topic (well, all the records are idm, so its sorta on topic), but does anyone have any recommendations for transfering records to cd, as far as good needles, and mastering(compression) once recorded into the computer. Thanks! j

I just use SoundForge and record as a WAV. Normalize and de-noise if you want to. I'm trying to do the same thing with a "soundblaster live" sound card. I have an input going in to the sound card from my stereo amp but I'm not getting any signal in my computer. My input levels are turned up on my software and mute is unchecked. Anyone using a SB Live card to transfer LP to CD?

Here is what i Use: Technics 1200 MKII to shitty Numark mixer rca cables from booth/recording on mixer to SB Live! (throw in the rca => 1/8 jack) put it in themicrophone jack (third hole from the top)...right below the output signal. i use Soundforge to record it (make sur you have the soundforge settings going to the correct input device and that your Windoze volume settings are correct....it took me a couple hours to figure this out)... i level out the mixer so that its low...and hit record on soundforge and monitor it (hit reset each track) and record away your problem is probably in the soundforge input setup and the windoze volume settings... cant be sure but thats usually the problem (or you dont have the jack in the right hole) -mikeD ps. if you want to make good mp3s.. goto www.download.com and get Bladeenc.. its a dos based Win-32 app that kicks ass. command line based... i usually rip my vinyl at 160 kbps.
