Got the new Autechre EP today- I must say I'm quite surprised by the generally negative responses about it. LP5 was, as far as I'm concerned, their best LP since Amber. EP7 is certainly a lot more complicated sonically than previous releases: there is a lot of processing and shifting of individual tones as well as shifting patterns in the music. I was also impressed by the packaging of this release. The cover has been moulded like LP5 with 'Autechre' embossed at the top along with the CD audio logo (more feint), but this time the plastic is transparent. The cover and liner have abstract, angular line drawings (see warp site for an animated applet that generates these) which seem to fit the music very well. Conclusion: if you didnt like LP5 then you probably wont like EP7. This is not a 'rehash' or remix or cast offs from LP5- sonically it is more detailed and it shares some of the feel of the Gescom MD. -- Jameel Syed http://ruby.doc.ic.ac.uk/ __________________________________________________________________________ University: jas5@doc.ic.ac.uk Personal: jameel_syed@bigfoot.com Mobile: 0780 335 6317 0C7F E831 BD47 176B 80B6 A70C 6265 FE45 1B46 894C

will us americans be blessed with the same packaging from Nothing? Someone please tell the people at Nothing not to put a big fucking sticker on the cover! Anyone got any contacts there? Probably too late anyway... Jeff

hello, i know this has been discussed to death, but i hadn't received my copy yet when the discussion happened. i would like to know what month this was released as well as the information about the hidden track. does the nothing promo cd(r) include the hidden track? i see 11 tracks on the back, but no extraordinarily long times (like the skampler & 0161 comps did). any help that one can provide (offlist) would be greatly appreciated. thanks, bmP

I dunno if it's on the Nothing promo, but if so: Put the cd on the start of track 1 and rewind by about 9:45 min. That's it. For the (Warp) Releasedate just check www.warp-net.com (why do I have to say this ?!?). CU Sebastian PS: If you ask something on-list the answer (at least from me) will be on-list.
