<< there are two funkstorung shows ok? one at other music at 9pm on june 17th and one under the brooklyn bridge at the brooklyn anchorage on the 18th >> Hmmm...although I have not been there, the brooklyn anchorage seems like the much more evocative location, and a better place to remove clothing (since there would most likely be alcohol for sale). Has anyone ever seen a live set at Other Music? I've often wondered how they cram a performance into that space. Do they roll all the CD's out of the way to make room for the crowd? Doesn't seem like there's much space for anything except dj-ing or possibly laptop-tickling. With funkstorung as popular as they appear to be on this list, seems like we could half-fill Other Music with just the IDM-list people who live close enough to attend, especially for a free set. Will the IDM kidz be camping out on the street outside, hoping to claim prime space to worship their idols? Since Tower Records is right across the street, perhaps the IDM posse will clash with a barbaric horde of teenagers waiting in line to get the autographs of the Backstreet Boys. There's a rumble with humorous possibilities. - Fred Church bigkumquat@aol.com

Definetely evocative. Also cavernous and echoey with mediocre sound. But it's more than worth going there once if you've never been. Too bad they keep getting worse line-ups every summer. The shows there are 21+ btw--they want people to get as drunk as possible, because they know they'll lose money otherwise.

Oh, it's cramped. Shelves get pushed to the sides, and they don't have bands perform--only djs, solo acts, duos, or computer users. Get there early if you want to be sure of a space. "Luckily" for me, I get to be one of the shelf-movers. I can't wait. Sam
