good news for CD buyers: starfish pool's remixed comp is available in north america through dutch east india. includes remixes from riou, unit moebius, steve mcqueen trio (starfish pool), holon, mark broom and dave hill, dogon soundsystem. it's got a four on the floor kick, but it ain't techno as we know it. quite experimental, gritty at times, has a sense of humour, worth investigating. andrew :)

I agree Starfish Pool's remix cd is excellent. I'm particularly fond of the Unit Moebius, Holon & Broom/Hill mixes. But i believe it's been available domestically through Silver's USA office since it's release back in 1997. Regardless, it's well worth getting as are other Silver label albums by Minion, Holon, Lowground, Unit Moebius, Starfish Pool, RA-x, and rude 66. If you want a starting place for the Silver label try their excellent "Real Music for Abstract People vol 1" compilation cd. It will give you a good taste of the excellent abstract techno stylings of Silver Records. In other Silver label news: Look out for the upcoming release of the new Starfish Pool album called Rituals for the dying later this month as well as a vinyl reissue of Unit Moebius's excellent Life Mood 1-8 album. Also, later this summer Silver will release the second volume of their excellent "Real Music for Abstract People" compilations. It *was* available through the improperly named[1] Silver USA, but since the office closed down a year or so back, I'm guessing that Silver has linked up with Dutch East now for their Stateside distro. Greg [1] Silver USA was based in Toronto, Canada. :)

Starfish Pool's musical style has varied during the 5 years he (Koen Lybaert) has been producing music ranging from dark ambient soundscapes to abstract rhythmic techno and even a little acid techno thown in as well. Starfish Pool has recorded for Nova Zembla, Pure Plastic, Kk, U-Cover, Daft, Conspiracy, as well as his own Silver & Respect Wax labels. Koen Lybaert also records as Lowground with Mark Broom, as Minion with Jan Duivenvoorden (Unit Moebius), and as Holon with Riou Tomita. You can check the official Silver Records website below to hear Starfish Pool soundbites as well as soundbites from Lowfish, Minion, Holon and many others: http://www.silverrec.com/ My personal favorite Lybaert releaes are: . Lowground: sound for freaks cd (Silver) . Minion: the crash sessions cd (Silver) . Starfish Pool: remixed cd (Silver) . Starfish Pool: rituals for the dying cd (U-cover) -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states
