Can anyone provide some good recommendations on what 4Hero releases to pick up? I'm not so much interested in the older breakbeat material as I am the more recent "sophisticated" stuff. However, all solid pointers are welcome. Thanks.

Start with 'Earth Pioneers'. That's a 6 track EP released before the album. If you like it, go a head with the album (I guess the single cd will do 'cause it features almost all the tracks from the doubpe cd), and finally you can decide wether you like to know what other people did with the music you just got to knew ... (bt, from what I remember most of the remixes on the singles are D'n'B, so you most probably won't like it) (BTW2, if you like it sophisticated try Tek9, that's Dego (one half of 4Hero) on a downtempo/hiphop-ish trip). Get Jacobs Optical Stairway (aka Marc and Dego). One of my favoraite breakbeat releases ever. A nice blend of lazy synthesised jazz, Detroit flavors and tastefully done breakbeats which are manipulated enough so as to establish a groove without being too repetitive or delving into more drillnbass territory...of course 2 Pages is really nice, though some IDM purists might find it too 'produced' (and the vocals might bother some people). peace Nate On Thu, 25 Mar 1999, Rodney Perkins wrote:

Sounds like a good plan. For the record, I am probably one of the few people on this list who like "Timeless" which 4Hero seems to have a slight hand in. If the DnB remixes come off like that (slight, superficial smell of soul/jazz w/o too much diva work), I would probably dig 'em. I am esp. interested in that sound obtained on the 4Hero remix of "Black Gold of the Sun" by Nuyorican Soul.

For what it's worth, I still think the original is better (excellent song). I *

You won't hear me disagree. I liked the album (And the track) a lot, and I'm still listening to it once in a while.
