I listened to about 30 seconds of each of the two Black Dog mixes at the local import shop today. One was a acidy techno track that didn't seem to bear much resemblance to the original, and the other retained too *much* of the original for me to bear listening to it. I considered buying it for 'spotter credit, but it'll take more than a couple of Black Dog mixes to make me plunk down my ducats for a Manson disc. Greg PS: The release, for those who care, is one of the two CDEP versions of "I Don't Like The Drugs But The Drugs Like Me" or something like that. UK pressings. No idea if the US version will include the BD mixes or not.

yeah, i agree. but that jimi cauty mix is wicked. sheep, red army choirs, all the trademark KLF cheeze. I picked up the 12" last weekend at Mod Lang, Berkeley. I somehow forgot to listen to the original mix, but the Black Dog remix is a mid-speed funky rhythmic workout, very reminiscent of some of the Bullitt remixes, with some minimal melody sprinkled over the top. Very nice, but it helps to be a fan already, it's not something everybody might go ga-ga over. Another nice remix is the Plaid remix of Alien's Frankie the Prankster, out on Blue Room. I wasn't that impressed the first time, I thought the melody was nice and that was about it, but nowadays I'm playing it at least once or twice a day. It helps to be a huge sucker for a good melody. Did anyone track down that South American release? Plan V vs The Black Dog? Any leads to where I might get my grubby hands on a copy, short of planning a vacation trip to Argentina? Have listers in Japan had better luck, perhaps? Thanks for any info. Playing now: oldies but goldies... "and i would like everyone on the planet to know i am not a Marilon Manson fan because..." let me guess. would it take away from your "ambient DJ" mystique.

Oh, and while we're bitchin' - why not run along and check on the correct spelling of Marilyn Manson before hurling bricks at everybody else. I *

yes, and its well worth it...its on bmg argentina, so a decent search may turn it up...dont forget to look in Chile also, as Plan V is originally from there... tom w np: opiate - objects for an ideal home ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
