following greg clow's review on feedback monitor, i bought solar x "little pretty automatic" (worm interface). the aphex twin influence is obvious, but boy, is that good stuff. quirky 303 acid with old school beats. it can't get any better. that's the second release i'm buying from worm interface (the first being jake mandell's excellent "parallel processes"). are they always that good? the only thing i don't like about them is their fondness for cardboard cd covers. while i'm at it, i'd also like to mention that i dig the "emanated" compilation quite a lot (although that's another cardboard cover case.) i almost flipped over just _seeing_ it in a local record store (you don't expect that kind of thing when you live around here) & bought it right away. the lillianthal, o.s.t. & sybarite tracks are my favorite. -- david turgeon curator, http://www.notype.com web programmer, http://www.jumpmedia.com eerie@mnemonic.net - icq #2358960

While I know that the point of reviews is to help sell records (or to warn people not to buy something in the case of negative reviews), I still find it odd to know that my opinions on things actually influence people. Even weirder was an experience yesterday when I was flipping through some stuff at Tower and found a release by a local indie artist called Automatic Fats that had an excerpt from my review of the album printed on a sticker. With my name and everything. And then there's the occassional press bio I get that has an excerpt from a review I wrote for the artists previous release. At least I haven't been misquoted yet. I'm just waiting for the day when I write something like "The utter suckiness of this album is truly outstanding!", only to see it quoted as "...this album is truly outstanding!". :) Greg

awww, well, i have a fondness for the good old 303, so it struck a chord. :)

i will. what about their other releases? their web site is kind of incomplete/inexistant, so i have no idea what else they got. -- david turgeon curator, http://www.notype.com web programmer, http://www.jumpmedia.com eerie@mnemonic.net - icq #2358960
