... or how crunchy beats (someone called it "the sound of sizzling bacon") get into britpop. _chemicals_ by a band called _the notwist_ (which i think are british, they sound british anyway), starts of with an intro of pure ae/funkstorung stuttering bleeps with some extremely nasal vocals on top. the track develops into a britpop-ish track with a catchy chorus, but the intro sticks in my mind ... maybe they are part-time idm-addicts or some of our beloved artists / sounds are making their way into other music genres and possible the general public ... just a thought, nothing really relevant. dv8 (back to lurking)

Danny Thierens describes: <_chemicals_ by a band called _the notwist_ (which i think are british, they sound british anyway)> They're German (I forget the name of the village but it's all detailed in the relatively recent issue of The Wire [Bjork cover]) and they are at the more rock end of a spectrum of bands with much membership overlap that includes The Village of Savoonga, Potawatomi and Ogonjok which display varying degrees of experimental/electronic influence. They put out their records and labels like Hausmusik (which does not release any house music from what I can tell) and Kollaps. Bob

The guy from Console is in the band, so you could also add Payola to the list of labels... Might wanna check this fine Notwist page I found (There's a side projects section) : http://members.tripod.com/~stefanx/index.htm Seb
