I've been reading a LOT of positive reviews and opinions from the IDM list lately on the subject of Pole's music. I've got nothing by Pole, and would REALLY like to find what's available and where it can be found. PLEASE get it touch with me off-list with your replies. Thanks in advance. Pietro. PS- If you've got any other reviews you could forward, or have any comments on CD1, feel free to shower me with your knowledge. ________________________ The Circular Cosmic Spot http://www.sdriver.com/spot Pietro Da Sacco 9745 Lynngrove Cr Windsor, Ontario N8R 1B8, Canada

This is going to the list & not just you, because I think people need to know about this man's music. -Pole, Stefan Betke, Berlin. -LP1/CD1, as well as a 6-track EP, will be released on Feb. 23 by Matador (US) -check www.matador.recs.com for more info -also has 12" singles out on Kiff SM and Din. The Din single is excellent, I can't speak about the Kiff singles (though "Tanzen" is on LP1/CD1) -He's fun to hang out with, and has been known to shadowbox with Substance on occasion ;) Cheers, Bill / dj marathon -- Sigma6 Interactive Media / http://www.sigma6.com dj marathon: "fibre" up now @ http://www.flatplastic.com/

STILL unable to get hold of CD1/LP1 here, but the track "Tanzen" is included on !K7's recent double CD set "Freestyle Files - Crackers Delight". This is the only Pole I've heard so far - is it indicative of the rest of his work? I was under the impression that it was quite dubby? (which I cannot say of Tanzen). I *

Really? To my ear, "Tanzen" is one of the dubbiest things on "CD1": listen to that bassline, which (to me) has a distinctly Jamaica-via-Deutschland (kinda like MoM's more chilled material) feel to it, especially with those little reggae-esque chord stabs that occasionally poke up out of the murk. -d.w.

What would Mouse on Mars' more chilled material be? I have yet to check that group. Recommendations, anyone? You can use Pole/Chain Reaction stuff as a guidepost if that helps. Thanks, Bill -- Sigma6 Interactive Media / http://www.sigma6.com dj marathon: "fibre" up now @ http://www.flatplastic.com/

Mouse on Mars is Kraftwerk influenced, bleepy, goofy, poppy stuff. They get more abstract on some of their harder to find releases, but on Vulvaland and Autoditacker they strike a nice balance--their weirdness never gets to hard to listen to or loses its groove. They opened a US Stereolab tour, and they were a perfect fit. Nuff said. Sam
