It was mentioned in passing a couple times already and I was also wondering, is anyone going to compile a 1996 IDM Poll? I for one found the previous two really nice as recommendations -- in fact it was seeing those polls at the Hyperreal site that turned me on to this list back in January. Anyway, I hope someone is planning to run one this year. Brian p.s. -- if no one else wants to do it, and if people really want it, maybe... um, that is I might... oh, never mind...

Am I the only one thinking that maybe cspot got so fucked off by all the bitching about the poll that he's decided not to compile the results? Wouldn't blame him, really, since we (i.e. quite a few vocal list members) really were acting like a bunch of ungrateful bastards. Greg

He wouldn't do that without conferring w/me first...right cspot!? ;) I'm positive all the bitching didn't make him want to hustle through the submissions though. Speaking of ultra-humans with hyperreal addresses, Mike Brown is up to no good again... http://www.hyperreal.org/music/exclusive/audio/apotheosis/ Teep NP: chocolate city

No, I expect most people have thought this at some point.
quoted 2 lines Wouldn't blame him, really, since we (i.e. quite a few vocal list> Wouldn't blame him, really, since we (i.e. quite a few vocal list > members) really were acting like a bunch of ungrateful bastards.
Not really - they (myself included) were just pointing out problems in the system which may liked to be ironed out next year (at cspots discretion). Most people added on their mails that they though cspot was doing an excellent job under difficult circumstances (ie complaints that the poll wasn't working for a lot of people). Compiling the IDM poll is pretty much a thankless task, but IMO it's not excuse to go sulking off like this. And as far as I can tell, it *is* sulking off. If there was any personal reason why the poll could not be compiled, then obviously that is fair enough, but to my knowledge, he has not disappeared and is just lurking on the list. How much effort would it take to post a short couple-of-line message to IDM informing the list of whats going on? Plenty of people have asked, so it's not like there hasn't been an opportunity. I dunno, maybe this explanation is forthcoming. I hope so. Lack of information causes misunderstandings and conflict, so c'mon, lets hope we find out what the hell is going on, even if it's just a surly ("yes, the poll is being compiled" or "no, I didn't see the point"). I'm trying hard not to be patronising, but remember, it's a small percentage of the voters who were complaining, so to not compile the results would be an insult to those who voted without comment. gb. -- /TheW i http://www.homeusers.prestel.co.uk/lwtcdi/all/ f o L D o dlr WTC "Let's decompose and enjoy assembling!"
