Although it probably could be classified under house, Mahogany Brown (Peace Frog Records) is some of the most intelligent "housey" (sp?) stuff I've heard in a while. Running parallel on the intelligent housey tip would be Morgan Geist. Any other opinions of Moody Man's Mahogany Brown release? Big shout to Detroit... funny because Detroit was kind of tore up last time I was there. david (who is dreaming of a Richie Hawtin DJ Kicks) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

I liked that record but not as much as his previous album - A Silent Introduction to... album on the Planet E label. Also if you like that sound then you'll also want to check out the Theo Parrish First Floor vols 1&2 2x12"s/ cd on the Peacefrog label. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

i concur. silent intro is a much better record. imo mahogany brown is a bit of a disappointment. too much "intentionally difficult" stuff and mixes of older tracks (joy, black mahogany) that are _far_ inferior to the the originals. there are a couple of real gems on there though, particularly the first side (radio, sunshine, on the run) does anyone else find peacefrog to be incredibly annoying in the way that they let most of their catalogue go out of print so quickly? it took me 2-3 years to find albums by stasis and glenn underground that i hadn't bought the month they came out.
