actually i have two copies. not sure how that happened, but i will post a review later. havent had time to give it a good listen since i got it. i have to agree that this one was a little pricey, but the rest have been pretty reasonable considering that they are all full lengths (or very long singles) and no filler. cl

Has anyone heard this album (aside from Lance McGannon)? Any critical opinions of it? I've quite liked what Phthalo has put out so far & usually get their releases when they come out, but I'm getting tired of paying $17 for domestic albums with no packaging & burnt to crap, flimsy CDRs. Does Phthalo possibly have the most outrageously priced releases of any U.S. label? Anyway, the music though. Anyone heard Robert's album? After all, he's one of our list members (so I know you've heard it, Rob). Marc Poirier

Actually i havent even heard this album yet so i dont know if it's even available yet. I heard there was some problems in the production of this one. I'll post any comments i have about it when/if i get it. But I have heard the album of Robert's brother, Miro, who records as Qwerty. The Qwerty album is supposed to come out on the Lucky Kitchen sublabel Kitchen Sink soon. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

You know, I was going to say the same thing about Phthalo. I want to get some of there stuff but the price tag is holding me back. I wonder why their stuff is so expensive (even if the price includes shipping)? Jeremy On Wed, 23 Dec 1998, Marc 3 Poirier wrote:

It is a CD-R in an edition of 250 with packaging much like Phthalocyanine's "Navy Warship;" - full-length, though, 11 tracks including two collaborations with Qwerty. If you like this kind of stuff, you shouldn't be disappointed; it's abstract electronics, oddly beautiful in spots and heavy on various kinds of rumbling, clicking and hissing noises. Not much in the way of "beats." I'm not as familiar with Farmer's Manual as I'd like to be, but some of it reminds of what I've heard by them - it's aesthetically pretty compatible with the Phthalocyanine releases as well.
