I realize this release is a little dated [sorry if that offends anybody on this list] but does anyone have an opinion on Controlled Developments? wondering whether it's worth it. If you can get it cheap, do so. SD stuff on science is (imo) their weakest, except for "two masks" which is really unbelievable: really frantic, rolling breaks with snatches of jazz samples and stabs, and a bass line that sounds like a pitched down kettle drum or something. it will really test the bass response of your system. the rest of it is just average. well, i guess capital d is also worth owning. happy hunting, RJ

Annoyingly quick review: I think it's excellent, actually. Way, way dark "technical" drum & bass. They often get compared with Photek and there are some definite similarities, but I find their material to be more, um, evil, for want of a better word. There are some really fine tracks on this mini-LP. -d.w.
