(FYI - for sound clips and images, go to http://www.matador.recs.com/news/index.html) Matador is pleased to announce two new acts: JEGA and KHAN. Jega is the project of Dylan Nathan, a native of Manchester, England. He has two 12"s on the Skam label (home of Boards of Canada), and his most recent album, _Spectrum_, came out in the UK on Planet µ Records, which is Mike Paradinas' (a.k.a. µ-ziq) label. Matador will license _Spectrum_ from Planet µ for North American release in February 1999. Our version will have a bonus track or two. Promise.

anyone have any inside info on this in regards to the bonus material? i would guess that it wouldn't be anything from the skam or mask releases as thats a completely different label. new material, remixes? jega done any live stuff or peel sessions? brap@sonic.net icq_12645306 http://www.sonic.net/~brap/ (now with live visuals (cam.html)) coming sooner than later: sfwd0004 - pre-mil·len·ni·um soundscapes 12" our future has never been so frightening: http://williamshatner.com/

so does good music expire after a certain date? i understand the urge to get things 'on time', while they're relevant, but if the music is good, isn't it still good six months from now? i'm curious as to the general opinion on this: how often do you go back and listen to something from two months ago? six months? a year? three or four years? and how often do you buy something that you missed a couple of years or couple of months ago? i'm thinking especially because i've picked up my autechre ALL out of order, starting with tri repetae++, then cichilsuite, then LP5, then amber... all that said, how is the jega album anyway? i sort of didn't pay attention because i didn't like his tracks on the skampler too much...ie, will it still be good music in february of 99? just thinkin. rob

i guess it comes down to my opinion that jega isn't that good. the sounds are anything but original, and by february of 1999 i just feel like the album will sound dated and stale. yaawwn. things that you mentioned.. old AE stuff.. now that is timeless. as is a lot of music. jega, however, is not among that group.. :: wells oliver / s0ewoliv@titan.vcu.edu :: 'try to smile as they devour our youth'
