Anyone tell me about this release... know this doesn't fall within the realm of idm, but hoping someone might know... saw it the other day for the first time. Is it new? I passed it up for Dead Voices on Air's Piss Frond... great release... actually, I've just realized that I still haven't listened to the second cd, as I've been enjoying the first so much. brap@sonic.net[icq: 12645306] http://www.sonic.net/~brap/ sfwd prod | noisesoundnoise chris g. 1547 boston court #7, santa rosa, ca 95405

Agreed. It might be hard to find here in North America due to Shad's annoying habit of sending most of his print runs over to Germany, but if you can track one down, snap it up. Pretty blue vinyl, too!

Yes, just came out a week or two back. Here's a review I've written for Chart magazine (it also appears on my website with a ton of other reviews - http://feedbackmonitor.home.ml.org): Robert Rich - Seven Veils (Hearts of Space) TUU + Nick Parkin - Terma (Hearts of Space/Fathom) After a rather lengthy hiatus, one of the world's finest new age/ambient labels returns with a pair of welcome releases. Veteran composer and producer Robert Rich has dabbled in world musics before, mixing them into his electro-acoustic experiments on releases like 1989's Rainforest. But Seven Veils takes this melding of sound to a whole new level, seamlessly blending Middle Eastern melodies and rhythms into his moody electronic soundscapes and enhancing them with slide guitar, cello, and more, resulting in an ethno-ambient masterpiece. Not quite so awe-inspiring but still haunting is the latest from British outfit TUU (a former trio now reduced to founding member Martin Franklin) whose ethereal compositions of electronics and exotic percussion are enhanced on Terma by the otherworldly flute of Nick Parkin.

I still haven't decided which half of Piss Frond I prefer. They fit different moods, I guess. It's nice to hear the end product, though - I heard a bit of the "work in progress" when I was visiting Vancouver in the spring, and it's cool to hear what was added in the meantime. Greg
