I can't remember any of the tunes right now except for the first one, Port Rhombus, and i must say, despite what this grammatically challenged chap thinks, its a fantastic song, if you're a squarepusher fan. I think Rod a Lester has tastes that are the exception, rather than the rule, as the people i know who are squarepusher fans love this ep.

Squarepusher: "Port Rhombus EP" 1996, Warp cat# WAP74CD Track Listing: 1. Port Rhombus - 6:49 - An extensive journey into the future sound of jazz versus the extensive use of Aphex Twin's tactics on drums. Heavily laid out rhythmic sculpture of feeling and emotion interlaced with a silent hum of a guitar, subtle drum loops, and intensified extractions of blissfull chaos. This tune fits well if your mind can take the distorted sounds of drum'n bass and the ever peacefull sound of jazz. Imagine elektronik blips and beeps, the twist of mega fast beats, and the calm of a melodic rhythm sitting casually within each other, and close your eyes. This trak will take you under and above any thought you've ever imagined. 2. Problem Child - 5:43 - Rhythm and blues, flipped out with syncopated fast drums. All kinds of odd sounds popping in and out of your mind. A distorted jazzy texture is subtle underneath the huge-ass drum loop. The blues effect is also inter-twined casually as well, making the tune ~almost~ melodic. You'll really need to learn how to listen to this tune, it is very fast, very smooth, very soft, very cool, and nonetheless a mind bender. Extreme caution is needed to listen to this tune, many noises involved throughout. Not my favorite. 3. Significant Other - 3:27 - Bleeps and noises significantly wrapped around eachother, in a sort of ~industrial~ sense (if i may say so). Imagine yourself standing in a sewer looking up to the sky, and all types of noises bending your thoughts, imagine someone tapping quikly into your mind. This tune ends just as fast as you think you might have something more heading your way. Prepare your mind for the thoughts of the ever strange world of Squarepusher. Learn how to listen, and you'll know what i'm talking about. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Track Notes: - - - Album Notes: - - - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Review: Overall Sound Composition (1-10): 7 Overall Percussion Composition (1-10): 7.5 Overall Rhythm Composition (1-10): 8 Album Rating (1-30): 22.5 I think Sqaurepusher has defined a sound which has yet to be catagorized in any section of sounds that we might call Jazz/Blues/Drum'n Bass/Elekro/Dub. I am still learning how to listen to this EP, and definitely suggest you look into this sound if you want to hear something that will coax your mind into wanting more. This EP is really something to get used to - a rather peaceful chaotic sound sculpture from which one can only interpret if you close your eyes and imagine a world that is both crazy and casual at the same time. Take a listen, you'll hear what i mean. - Pietro Da Sacco 3/7/98 mbm@netcore.ca ________________________________________________ T H E C I R C U L A R C O S M I C S P O T presents... :::: M e a t B e a t M a n i f e s t o :::: http://www.sdriver.com/spot ______________________________________________ * Reviews * Interviews * Articles * Pictures * * Actual Sounds * Give-Aways *

I will never learning how to listen to this EP, and definitely suggest you look into this sound if you want to hear something that will coax your mind into commiting suicide. even the Crot EP was better than this. This EP is really something to cant get used to - a rather piece of crap. hmmmm.. his is by far my favorite squarepusher material on warp... problem child and port rhombus are among my favorite tom j songs (overall) if you're located in the US and really want to part with the cd single, I wouldn't hold anything against you if you sent it my way =) I thought that the Crot ep really held no emotional value to me whatsoever. But I find that the Port Rhombus 12" just does things to me... I got nuts whenever I hear Problem Child (before I got the 12" I used to listen to the realaudio that fresh had up on his s-pusher page... daily) (can't play the 12" @ work... been trying to get them to let me bring in my turntable for like a year now, but with no luck) ^brap@sonic.net^ [icq: 12645306] http://www.sonic.net/~brap/ [blackdog][v/vm][jamesbernarddiscography]...etc etc etc sfwd.dyn.ml.org [occasional web.irc.ftp.etc]]] chris g. 1547 boston court #7, santa rosa, ca 95405

Are you sure you're not Wells in disguise? You both possess a command of rhetoric otherwise unknown to this list. Che
