I seem to remember that someone posted an URL or info about this program, this Image-->sound converter some time ago (a year ago?!?). Anyone out there who still remember the URL, program name and such? Didn't manage to download it the last time so I eventually forgot about it. Erq.

I'm not sure of this is what you mean, but they may use this: MetaSynth. Made by one of the guys from MetaTools, makers of (cheesy) Kai's Power Tools. It's interface is just as cheesy, but it is *powerful*. An excellent sound designer app, but cumbersome because of the stupid interface. You can draw right in it, or import Photoshop files into it. It 'plays' the picture. Sort of hard to explain. Download the demo (excellent to sample from) at uisoftware.com ( it's Mac only) Nate On Fri, 17 Jul 1998, Erik Hedin wrote:

It was back when an interview with RDJ came out where he talked about his version of CUBase that someone on the net rewrote for him, and also how he was playing with the idea of converting pictures into music, and used a hypothetical situation where some girl would want to make music, but they don't want to be bothered with learning how to use computers etc.. heh at that time he reckoned he'd have it sorted in a couple years. or was that teaching his computer to write music? it was one of the two at least. __ __\ \ / /_\ \ 1cQ<->uIN \_____/ 1.3777993 "..in whatever you do, if you can't break new ground, what's the point?" - James Cameron

Quoting Erik Hedin (plod@gargamel.com): | | I seem to remember that someone posted an URL or info about this | program, this Image-->sound converter some time ago (a year ago?!?). Anyway, it's not very hard to make your own image to sound converter. A friend of mine made a very simple one, which took an image and converted it to a sound. When this sound was played, and the sound output was spectrum analyzed you could see the original image "sonically footprinted". A good way of storing "hidden" visual messages in your song. -- Christian Stigen Larsen -- http://www.sublevel3.org chrisl@stud.ntnu.no http://www.stud.ntnu.no/~chrisl/
