many thanks to Lazlo for doing the obvious and going to the VW site to set the record straight re: music beds used for the Bug ad campaign (reposted below for all those who missed it - can we let it drop now?). that thread was starting to touch on my last good nerve. an interesting thread, but overall not that important. yes, I am amazed to see the crossover of "electronica," although we all knew it was coming, but honestly I could care less what VW, Nike and all the rest do. even it is my favorite artist. it's not gonna stop me from listening nor is it gonna stop me from searching for new soundz. perhaps therein lies one upside of what was once underground crossing into the mainstream - it keeps us moving. and that's why we're here (idm). and wells, don't take VW to task for oh-so unsubtley including a vocal clip that "_says_" 'little fluffy clouds.' it wasn't them. that snip is part of the original vocal sample that mr. patterson used as the basis of the track in '91. feel free, however, to accuse VW of unsubtley positioing it within the commercial the way they did. as stated, I could care less about VW. just wanted to clear up any misuderstandings. have a great weakend everyone. no no... i know the track well. i was just responding to whoever asked if it was the Little Fluffy Clouds track. seems a bit odd to ask that when the commercial uses the vocal clip that _says_ little fluffy clouds. np. terre thaemlitz 'means from an end' - wells oliver / s0ewoliv@titan.vcu.edu

well, it seems that obvious because you know the track...in the same way that you can pick out the voice of someone you know in a crowd, the snippet saying "little fluffy clouds" stands out because you already know that "little fluffy clouds" is the name of the track. if you put yourself in the shoes of someone who doesn't already know the track, it doesn't seem to be so obvious... -brad

well.. i think the question was phrased somewhere along the lines of 'That commercial for the VW.. is that Little Fluffy Clouds by the Orb?'. ie. they knew the track too. ah.. fuck's sake... it's not important.. np. wumpscut vs haujobb - wells oliver / s0ewoliv@titan.vcu.edu / http://mute.simplenet.com
