i was listening to one of beck's lesser known albums in the record store's used bin the other day, and i came opon something interesting. at the very beginning of track 12, before any of beck's music kicks in, you can hear 2 or 3 seconds of a black dog track. i think it was heart (balil), or the last one on spanners. anyway, my jaw dropped a couple inches, and i was wondering if there's a story behind this or something? oh, and no, i don't remember the name of the beck album, but i know it wasn't odelay or mellow gold. noah

Stereopathic Soul Manure? That's his weird electronic one, which i haven't heard. Speaking of Beck, there's just been an illicit remix project districuted on the Internet by some Dartmouth student. Beck's company has sent out a cease & desist, but the guy keeps on selling the CDs, and Beck won't sue. Which is pretty cool, considering what other people have done. Sam

right-o! it's a pretty swell disc, pretty heavy on the theoretical side and not really sounding like beck at all ('cept on 1 tune)...supposedly it's been picked up by negativland's seeland records and should enjoy wider distribution, but for now you can check out: http://www.detritus.net/illegalart/beck/ for more info. note the inclusion of a track by the fab ohio tricksters the evolution control committee. and only five bucks! whoopee, AudioPig rorshach@execpc.com
