These track titles explain the music from the new PLASTIKMAN album,
Consumed, from the mind of Richie Hawtin. Consumed-The Event will
translate the mood, response and definition behind this album, in an
interactive and reactionary manner. Starting the countdown just ten
days prior to the release of the new album (on MINUS/NovaMute Records),
Consumed sets the proper introduction to the next chapter of
Plastikman.
Set in a decorative early 20th Century temple in Pontiac, Michigan,
CONSUMED features the talents of Richie Hawtin on decks, effects and 909
in the main room. From open to close- this room is his. This will be
the first time the Midwest will experience this custom DJ/Live set-up.
Richie will be manning a 3-Dimensional sound system with controllable
spatial effects, also new to the arena. Room 2 will feature the Detroit
debut live show from Theorem, in addition to DJ's Matthew Hawtin and
Clark Warner. This area exemplifies the atmospheric and experimental
side of electronic music, with a balcony filled with online chat
terminals overlooking the entire room, taking in and relaying the event
worldwide, real time.
Throughout the complex, there will be a multitude of individual
environment rooms. One room will contain relative silence, with a
projection of all the technological background of everything going on;
the packets going to the net, the webserver hits, the real audio server
hits, the LAN traffic, all paying quiet homage to the amount of data
generated by this event. Two of these special rooms showcase the
installation efforts of Hawtin. The first of these, SIMON, will be a
randomly-planned audio visual installation. Another room, CONTAIN, will
display the inner-workings of the "void" which focuses on the potential
space within the album by projection and SGI Technologies utilizing
directional sensory response. Other technologies will be used to alter
participants' sense of direction and location. All of these areas are
meant to attract and distract listeners as they move between different
zones of disturbance and uniqueness.
The production emphasis behind Consumed confronts the accepted standards
of DJ events head on with an aggressive attitude. For those unable to

event is held in a secure, legal venue. Ample parking is available.
