"idiots"? Other than the bad taste for nicking the name, have you heard the Cybotron vs. Dillinja material? It *rules*.

Yep, there's the Kevin Saunderson 2CD "Faces & Phases" comp. on Planet E. (Planet E PE65235CD) Absolutely essential in every way. I don't think there's a UR-specific comp. out but you can't go wrong with all the compilations from Submerge ... (That's Jeff Mills, for those of you playing along at home.) There's also the X-103 "Thera" 12" (AX-103), which has 4 tracks, 2 of which are "Obtained from the forthcoming 2 EP set ``Atlantis''". It's also pretty much the bomb. I just got my turntable working again recently, and spent this past Saturday going through a lot of old vinyl. When the Axis "The Other Day" compilation came out, I was sorta bummed because of all these Axis 12" records I have. But listening to "The Other Day" (the CD comp.) afterwards, I found it interesting to note that Jeff picked more of the mellower/slower tracks to put on the comp., whereas the 12"s have a lot of the harder banging tracks (e.g., "The Bells" from the "Kat Moda" EP isn't on the CD). Damn, this should be posted to 313 instead. Sowwy. OnNow: Neotropic live MP3. :-) - Greg

It's online at http://www.mapmusic.com I've got a promo cassette from robert, but my tape deck crapped out on me today =/ and well, this sad 630LC mac can't handle RA...

you bastard! =p (lucky one that is...) as for good ol' days... find myself reverting back to some of the older, wierder and very ambient noodlings of the Butthole Surfers now and then... though Gibby's solo electronic album pretty much bit it... other than that... late 92, cbc's Brave New Waves with Brent Bamburry and polygon window and FUSE dimension intrusion... and, a question... I'm putting together a proffessionally done visuals video with a mixed sound track of mainly Vancouver bc area artists, ie Phil Western... and was wanting to know if anyone on idm is apt to buy such a thing??? mmm, gotta love doing market research! =p latter q

Funny, I'm listening to that disc for the first time right now. Only about halfway through it, but I can say that it's VERY eclectic. Not grabbing me as quickly as the previous Map release (Pilgrims of the Mind "What's Your Shrine?" - still a fave!). Several tracks are very ambient and very short (2-3 mins). Once I've given it a few listens, I'll likely give it a proper review. Speaking of which - I added a bunch of new reviews to the Print section of my website this past weekend. Anyone got any release news on the Download EP's yet? Still gotta hear what Ae. do with Download. Convinced Mr. Key to have a bash at drum 'n' bass yet, Greg? -i. (who doesn't have "Music Fur Cats" yet)

Blah. "A Collection of Short Stories" is 75:50 long!!! Too damned long for my CD DupIt :-( :-( :-( Oh well. (Wonder how they got it on one CD?)

Hmmn, didn't know this was in the offing. I'll ask ...
quoted 1 line Convinced Mr. Key to have a bash at Drum 'n' Bass yet, Greg?> Convinced Mr. Key to have a bash at Drum 'n' Bass yet, Greg?
hehe ... no. The only things that caught my eye by the stereo were "Feed Me Weird Things" and all the opened Chain Reaction tins :-) (I really dug the Substance CD, which I'd never heard. Must ... buy ... this ... There was also a Propellerheads CD, which he got 'cuz he thought "Burning 'n' Tree" was too much, and he thought maybe the UK Propellerheads were the same as the Swedish ReBirth Propellerheads. D'oh!) I figured I'd better start from the Chain Reaction stuff and work him in easy :-) He liked the Carl Craig Psyche/BFC comp. I think, but wasn't too taken with the Mo'Wax "Bug In The Bassbin" remix CD :-) Don't worry, sooner or later the Moving Shadow and 31 12"s will come creeping out ... first I gotta see if I can drag him out to the Plug Research shindig this Friday ... (everything in its time) OnNow: The depressing hum of the fans in my work PC that wedges solid when I try to upgrade it to NetBSD 1.3.1. Arggh.
