hi all, firstly, i should point out we have the old self-fulfilling prophecy - the list becomes bad because it's full of people complaining about how the list is becoming bad? :) secondly, i KNOW i couldn't stand all these individual, often petty emails arriving in my mailbox every 5 minutes. it'd annoy me to death. so there's actually a simple solution - subscribe to the digest version of the list. then you get a mail about once or twice a day with a collection of emails in it, it's really easy to scan past all the tedious emails and find the interesting stuff, and.. well, it certainly works very well for me. I'm always surprised more people aren't using it. Info, of course, at: http://www.hyperreal.org/music/lists/idm/ please, let's quit the bad vibes and the 'no wonder everyone's quit' stylee conversations. there's a lot of useful info on the list. i don't mind trade lists as long as they're neatly laid out and aren't posted every 5 seconds. i don't mind links to your own music as long as they're polite and not posted every 5 seconds. :) what i do mind is the increasing flamewar/rant craziness. oh, and posting requests/links to illegal mp3s on list is kinda rude too. but.. bleh. regards, h0l. ps - [insert idm content here] - guess me+some other people will be going to the DJ Spooky vs. Scanner BOLT thing in SanFran on Saturday night. I'll try to post to say how it was.. should be intriguing, at least :) pps - thanks for the Daniel Ibbotson info, all. Much appreciated. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I don't claim to know exactly how things work on a mailing list this size, but if something is wrong with the list, I can't see why people wouldn't take a break from all of the fascinating and intelligent music threads we always have and try to solve the problem. That's like bitching about Greenpeace being so negative all the time (why can't they just get a real job and enjoy life like everyone else?) Okay, that's a REALLY extreme analogy. Yeah. I'm gonna take a nap. -----Original Message----- From: h0l - <h0l211@hotmail.com> To: idm@hyperreal.org <idm@hyperreal.org> Date: Friday, March 17, 2000 3:38 PM Subject: (idm) why not go to idmlist digest version?
