There's one EP I know of apart from the FunkEntstort you mentioned. It's called "Musik aus Strom EP 1.08" - cat.nr. MZM4307 on white vinyl. I think it came out about a year ago. GreetZ, Delete.

I'd say they're on a par. All this Autechre vs Everyone Else Making Music bullshit can only go so far. Sure, Autechre are a talented couple of guys who've released some excellent stuff, but there's too many people in this group with their head too far up Autechre's arse to even consider anything else worthy of a spin on the decks.

What about their remix of Bjork's 'All Is Full of Love'? Or the Aemic 'Aleph' 12-inch? (Okay, so it's Fakesch and Estermann, but it's close enough.) Having said that, I've always preferred Fakesch's solo efforts to his stuff with Funkstorung. Funkstorung sound like Ae inasmuch as they were inspired by them. However, Funkstorung was doubtlessly influenced by a number of people, and it shows. I think Ae and Funkstorung complement each other well, rather than Funkstorung being a mediocre send-off of Ae's work. On days when I grow tired of Ae's mind-bogglingly complex rhythms and often-soulless mechanical feel, I put on Funkstorung (or other MAS acts), and am quite relieved. yeah yeah yeah autechre is great. everything else(markant, MaS, etc) is just a cheap imitation. rinse and repeat, ad nauseum. that said, i really LIKE a lot of the funkstorung stuff, especially the tracks where it's NOT obvious that they admittedly worship sean & rob. breakart and sondernieste are soso, but the rest is pretty good listnin' , IMHO. and i personally think that the AEMic EP is a lovely record with 2 brilliant, brilliant tracks that don't really sound too much like Ae at all, but combine beautiful childlike melodies with wicked backstabbing percussion. I didn't like the Freeform, Funkstorung 1.08, and the i think it was the last two releases....I forget the names. I probably like about half of their material. I picked up the Bannlust - Digital Tension CD last night. I thought that had some interesting moments on it. There were 2 tracks I believe that ventured out towards Drum n bass, it kind of reminded me of Jega a little. Its a 10" with a rubber stamped cover bearing the words "FUNKSTORUNG PRESENT C'EST LA VIE PROMO" - a single sided white label with cat no XPR3371A. Typically Fs with some Opra Haza-ish backing vocals I also came across a similar 2x12" at the weekend cat no XPR3372 where Funkstorung is replaced by Hybrid and Futureshock which isn't of the same calibre - sort of Paul van Dykey "sorted white label" type stuff. Anyone have any info/ideas? This is a Funkstorung remix of the new Jean Michel Jarre single. The Funkstorung remix was pre-released on a 10". The 2x12" pack you found is what will be released when the single comes out, if its not out this week already. Why would you compare funkstorung's music with anybody else's? I'd say the first reason is that there not typical in anything they do. Secondly, yes they actually listen to American rap/hip hop almost exclusively I've been told. I've found most of the time it's not really of any use/fairness to compare anybody with anything. Ofcourse they've heard afx and Ae, but I honestly think there sound is a fairly distinct original sound, would you not agree? Remember they were one of the first of the second wave post Ae sound. As far as them listening to hiphop etc.. You'll have to believe it, cause it's true. I'm friends with someone whose spent time with them and they really just listen to American rap/hiphop and artists from their lable. There actually huge Wu-Tang fans. But I don't think you should call them a rap group or compare them to others. Finally, I've yet to hear any of the tracks your referring to but by your description they sound awesome. Personally I'd like to hear Funkstorung destroy an mc, that sounds fresshhh.
