Not strictly IDM content, but as this album's been mentioned here before, I thought I'd ask--has anyone else heard the Bang On A Can All-Stars' live-instrument versions of this? They just played a concert here in Durham whose second half was all of Music for Airports, arranged for clarinet, cello, bass, electric guitar, piano/synth, and percussion. F***ing brilliant arrangements, too. There's a CD, which I haven't picked up yet, but plan to. Just curious if anyone else knew about it (or didn't, but wanted to). yes, boc just played chicago last week, and while the first movement was promising, the remainder of the piece felt way too flat. i am thinking that perhaps they didn't use enough of the arrangements that the ensemble would have allowed them to pursue. it just felt like a transcription for its own sake, with nothing substantially added or taken away. their original works were much more entertaining. mj np: depression (prolonged winter mix) * * * * * * * )) ) * ( ( ( * _O )WW( ___________(]])__WWWW_______________ -- XXXX those sad, sad campfire songs...

I heard the CD at Barnes and Noble. Quite a good reproduction (dare I say "cover") of the original 1/1. I really liked the album alot. But then and again I listened to alot of symphonic covers that night. 'twas brilliant though. Rusty
