I'll take a guess and say it was originally from George Lucas's
THX-1138. Finally rented it last week. While watching the movie,
I noticed something like every 2 minutes or so there was soundbite
used later in tracks by Reload, FSOL, T Power, etc. etc.
It was like the same feeling I got watching Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory for the first time, and hearing that sample "We are the music
makers..." that Aphex Twin used on SAW I.
BTW: From THX-1138.... comes the best soundbite in the world:
If you are not properly sedated, call [number]. Failure to do so
will result in prosecution for criminal drug evasion.
