hey now, just cos the step had that vocal... the sound was still pure sheffield. plus, some bitchin' b-sides (bullfrog and robert gordon's dubs)

nope, and it's been a point of contention on this list before. it's just how i am...

now that's a voice of reason. well said. some bloke around here used to have a sig. "reverb's great if you know how to use it..."

indeed. played the original "mr. kirks nightmare" last night, from '92. some of that old moving shadow stuff is fun too, but a bit obnoxious. that's why they called it hardcore... btw, in the long run, the best warp one-off was "modus vivendi" (fade in mix) hoo! shivers... i will also accept wildplanet's "blueprints" and it's rippin' "electron" 12". in my opinion. or something. cameron on now: black jazz chronicles "future juju" (nuphonic) ===================================== cameron bowden cameron@imagina.com blacksmith on the anvil in your ear _____________________________________

having just purchased a lexicon pcm90 (rather expensive box that does only reverb) i have seen the problem - most people have cheap reverbs with nasty metallic gunky algorithms. with the lexicon i can have huge cavernous whipery angelic reverbs that go on and on for days yet don't clog up the mix. the difference is truly amazing. a lot of it comes down to engineering. distortion sounds good and hard and also covers up bad engineering. using it right is a tricky business. i like to contrast distorted layers with super squeaky clean layers. all of one thing is like cake without frosting. -- Jon Drukman jsd@gamespot.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Plan: Eat right, exercise regularly, die anyway.

personally i like metallic gunky reverbs..! i also like expensive reverbs, but too much of either can be very ugly... in fact too much of expensive reverbs is definately worse... just think of all those awful records that came out after SAW1 with expensive reverb on the bass drum... yuk. steve

for reverb, give me whatever the hell the orb used on _orbus terrarum_. sounds like it's being played thirty feet below a mix of mud and oatmeal. * #### a disturbance in a system. #### laerm. @voicenet.com #### reduced to perfection.
